FORESTA, fulfills his X Aniversario on December 11, 2008, being one very special year for the Foundation. For it FORESTA has wanted to make something very special

The promotion of a vest designed by Kukuxumusu and produced by Bokart, with a specific design for the Foundation, representing graphically the end FORESTA Fundacional, the reforestation of the mounts of the Canary Archipelago, having been the strong plate in the stand of the WOMAD. 

The Funds of this vest will be destined to the plantation of Canary species. This way every person who buys a vest with this design, will receive a supporting diploma of the plantation of a tree baptized with the name of the holder where the coordinates of latitude were indicated and longuitud in the one that is the planted copy. Those persons who wish it can be going, in a Day of Voluntary work, close to Foresta's monitors to plant they themselves, the tree that they support with the purchase of this vest.

The end of this initiative is to plant a tree on name of every person that he wishes and to have a recollection of our Foundation across the original design of the vest

The personnel of EMALSA took part in the program ' Days of company ' of FORESTA

FORESTA realized besides the works of plantation, an interpretive walk along Osorio environment to observe the principal species of the Canary ecosystem.

The response of the personnel of Emalsa to the activity programmed by FORESTA converts this day of plantation into the best reflectionof the implication of the Canary companies into the care of our natural patrimony

During the works in "Finca de Osorio(Teror)", 250 specimens stood firm of faya, acebiño and tree srtawberry. After a brief workshop given by three FORESTA's monitors to 85 personnel of Emalsa to explain the protocol of action to them, and later they began the tasks of plantation. Osorio estate was the place chosen for these days in order to replace foreign sick species as the chestnut grove with autochthonous species

The program ' Days of company ' was started by the Foundation by the intention of offering to the Canary companies the option to work for the conservation of the natural Canary environment and to compensate this way the pollutant actions derived from his managerial activity

Osorio Estate has been the place chosen by the Foundation FORESTA to open his campaign of reforestation 2008/09. This initiative receives the support of the Chapter of "Gran Canaria"and is achieving, thanks to the implication of entities as Emalsa, reforestar important extensions of damaged hectares or in risk of desertification.

Estimated voluntary, with the arrival of October there begins the campaign of forest repopulation of our mounts. This near campaign coincides with FORESTA's X Aniversario and for it we want to celebrate it with us.

For this period we are preparing a series of actions in zones where there exists a great potential of recovery of the woodland. Of this form it is tried to create, with the help of all our VOLUNTARY, small cores or redoubts of vegetation that serve in a future to average and long term of centers of spread of seeds and of Biodiversity

The actions foreseen for this autumn / winter (October - December, 2008), if the climatology and other environmental factors allow it, are a priori those who appear later:

On Tuesday, the 16th of September the Foundation FORESTA realized the first activity of a series of acts and activities programmed by the Consejalía de Medio Ambiente del Ayuntamiento de Arucas on the occasion of the European Week of the Mobility. FORESTA I am employed with the young men of Arucas at the C.E.I.P of Santidad durante 3 shifts of 45 minutes, at different classes, turning into a dynamic and interactive activity into that the pupils could have satisfied his curiosities and doubts in relation to the environment.

The prevention of fires, the methodology of plantation of trees, the natural history of the Archipelago and the wealth of the Canary ecosystem have been some of the topics concerning which it has turned this workshop. 

FORESTA recaptures with this collaboration in Arucas his activities after the summer. The agenda of the Foundation meditates initiating already the own actions of the season of the plantation that now begins.

With the summer arrival the foundation FORESTA has put end to the Campaign 2007/08. Next months of summer they will serve FORESTA to plan the following campaign of actions focused to extending and preserving the rich natural patrimony of Canaries

The campaign that now is closed has mobilized approximately 6.000 persons between volunteers, students and companies, which have planted more than 21.000 copies of diverse species Parallel there has been used a whole of 180.000 liters of water in the irrigation of these repopulations.

These numbers have been possible thanks to the support received of public and private institutions between which it is necessary to emphasize the “Excmo. Cabildo de Gran Canaria” across área de Medio Ambiente, to “Ayuntamiento de Ingenio Telde and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria”, and principally to the unconditional support of entities as Land bank of Canaries, Caja Rural de Canarias, Caja Canarias and the diverse mass media involved in this end.

The support of the volunteers also has been decisive at the moment of achieving our aim. They have been responsible for the restoration of many degraded environments and in serious danger of desertification.

With a view to the next season, the foundation has foreseen to come to 100 hectares of repopulation planting approximately 60.000 new plants that give place to new forests.

For it the already existing campaigns will be reinforced and one will be employed at the opening of new lines of work focused on the fixation of the CO2, the improvement and increase of the Canary woodlands, brake to the erosion and desertification and to it herrecharges of the aquiferous one.

FORESTA wants to be grateful for all those persons who have collaborated or collaborate with the foundation his unconditional support and encourages them to continue taking part of the activities programmed for the next campaign.

Throughout one year, FORESTA will plant and take care of 1.200 trees of the vegetable ecosystems most threatened with Canaries thanks to Ecoogler's help
Every search realized in Ecoogler, he contributes symbolically to reforestar a leaf. For every 10.000 searches / leaves, Ecoogler donates the necessary money in order that a tree reaches the Amazon.

The ecological seeker, Ecoogler, has turned into protective associate of the Canary Foundation for the Reforestation (FORESTA). Thanks to the help of Ecoogler, FORESTA it will plant and take care of 1.200 trees of the vegetable ecosystems most threatened with Canaries (forest termófilo and Monteverde or Laurisilva). This seeker, who uses Yahoo's technology and who helps to reforestar the Amazon and in the Canary Isles and to preserving the natural resources of sweet water, will contribute the necessary resources to plant 100 trees a month on the Archipelago.

With this seeker that reforesta, the Foundation bets for the new technologies and trusts in that Internet it turns into another route of civil participation in the care and maintenance of the environment not only of Canaries, but of the rest of the world

The conservation of our forests depends only neither on the Public Administrations nor of the entities as FORESTA that work for and to increase the forests guaranteeing the maintenance of the rich natural patrimony of the Canary Isles. 

With the summer arrival the persons' abundance to the mounts increases and for it we must do a use responsible for these natural spaces. From FORESTA we want to remember(remind) a few minimal rules to enjoy total safety of our forests:

· Not to do fires out of the zones allowed for it (barbecues of the recreative areas).

· To throw neither garbages nor crystals in our fields.

· To throw neither stubs nor any other object for the windows of the vehicles.

· Not to circulate with vehicles to engine out of the allowed routes.

· To respect the agents' indications of environment and cartels.

· In case of detecting something I surprise to put in notice the authorities of immediate form.

The forest is our second house and the best legacy that we can leave our future generations. DO NOT FORGET IT

On Friday, the 20th of June Deloitte it took part in environmental activities organized by Foresta, across the Days of Company. Foresta personnel gathered the participants of the activity, in the "Parque Santa Catalina", to direct them up to "Finca de Osorio", place chosen for the development of the activity. 11 persons of Deloitte planted 20 trees of the species Faya (Myrica faya) and enjoyed the activity in the course of the morning

The M.I. Telde's town hall, Councillorship of Environment in his(her,your) project " Deja el hábito del CO2 " has organized a series of acts between which one finds the exhibition of the photographer Cathy Suárez, in the Room of Arnao's Exhibitions from June 5 to June 16.

The exhibition represents the photographic sample " El Eucalipto" and " El precio de los Cayucos".. The sale of the pictures is dedicated to the reforestation of the Canary forests of the zone inflamed of last summer in Great Canary. Due to the World day of the celebrated Environment On June 5 worldwide, Foresta has wanted to contribute with the week of the Environment, realizing activities during the whole week, to try to transmit the importance of the continuity in tasks of enviroment

Last Saturday, the 10th of May, 2008, an activity of voluntary work was realized in "Villa de Ingenio". The activity of irrigation was formed by a volunteers' treintena, with many desire of working and contributing with his granite of sand in being careful and safeguarding our natural environment.

Voluntary work BBVA has taken part in the project of Days of Companies organized by Foresta.

The activity gave to itself place last April 5, 2008 in the "Aula de la naturaleza de la Finca de Osorio", Teror.
75 persons took part, planting 175 trees of monteverde (faya). The participants after planting, had the opportunity to choose between giving an interpretive walk along some Osorio corners or continuing planting on the zone of action close to the personnel of Foresta

The Caixa Foundation has taken part in the environmental activities organized by Foresta.

The “Jornada de empresa”gave to itself place last March 29, 2008 in the classroom of the nature of the”Finca de Osorio”, Teror.

20 participants had the oprtunidad of planting 50 trees of monteverde (faya) and of enjoying an interpretive walk along the most typical corners, in what vegetable wealth refers, the mentioned Estate close to Foresta personnel.

Foresta could not have been present in the Festival "La Caja Sonora" last Saturday,15th of March, by safety motives established by the city council of Las Palmas ode Gran Canaria, nevertheless we will warn to near events

The Foresta Foundation informs that in March ended the repopulation time. The period of repopulation in Canaries, due to climate, corresponds from October to March Nevertheless we continue working, and all those companies that want to take part with Foresta across the project "Jornada de empresa", do not doubt to put in touch with us to be able to reserve possible dates to realize the activities in the next winter.

Last Saturday, 8th of March, Foresta Foundation, realized an activity of voluntary work in Telde
The activity come off in the Estate "Lomo Calacio" with the participation of 55 volunteers, between them children. In the activity e was done reinstatement of gaps, maintenance and irrigation of the repopulated species.

The pupils of the last year of the Engineers School of Mounts of Madrid, as every year from 1959, proceeded to sale firs in Christmas. The aim is to avoid the indiscriminate felling of firs from the natural masses, manage part of the expenses of End of Career to favor the use of sustainable products that reinforce the forest sector, to reduce use of plastic products and to take part of some solidary activity, collaborating with Not governmental Organizations to destine part in benefit to some poyect that the pupils watch interesting that changes every year

Due to the devastating fires happened during the last summer 2007affecting to the Canary Islands, the Engineers School of Madrid has decided to donate 1 Euro for every tree sold during the past Christmas to the Foresta Foundation to be able to relieve the above mentioned hurts as far as possible.

Foundation Satocan Jungel Sanjuán thank to the environmental activities initiated by Foresta Foundation, Satocan Jungel Sanjuan Foundation has taken part in activities of repopulation with the personnel. The "Jornadas de empresa" gave place in the recreative Area of "Morro Santiago", San Bartoloméof Tirajana, zone burned by the fires of last summer. The actionwas on Saturday, 26th of January, with the participation of 70 persons, between them 15 children. The activity had a duration of 3 hours. The repopulated species were wild olive tree and almond-tree, with a whole of 220 plants

Last 19 of January , 2008, there was realized the first activity of voluntary work of this year 2008. This activity is promoted thanks to the donation of the project " Aguita by the fire "; project realized from November 26 to November 30, 2007 (more information in laternews) In the activity there took part about 50 volunteers of the Foresta Foundation. The place chosen for the reforestation was the recreative area of "Morro Santiago", in San Bartolomé of Tirajana. On the actionthe voluntary participants of the activity planted 120 pines and 80 of termófilo.

Estimated voluntary the activity of next December 15 will be the last one of the year 2007. From Foresta we want to grateful for all those volunteers who have taken part with us in the different organized activities, and encourage to follow resting on our labor of forest recovery of the Canary Islands.

The Foresta Foundation organized and carried out the day of the tree in the capital, insideto the project that is developing with the students " Plan escolar forestal " (PEF). Foresta for the execution of the PEF requested soil for activities of reforestation in Las Palmas of Gran Canaria, to the Town hall of the capital, which proposed the collaboration for this so symbolic day.

The day of the Tree celebrated on Monday, 3rd of December in the capital with the participation of the councilman of Sustainable Development of the Town hall of Las Palmas of Gran Canaria, Néstor Hernandez, the Councillor of district of High city, Immaculate Medina, the Foresta Foundation , the Institute IES La Minilla and the college Arenas. The pupils of the IES La Minilla and of the college Arenas planted 250 trees, with species as wild olive tree, palm, drago, álmacigo and guaidil, in the neighborhood of the Fair.

On the occasion of The X Aniversario of the municipal swimming pool of Saint Lucia the local corporation develop during the week from November 26 to November 30 the project " Aguita with the Fire ".

This program, which tries to arouse the students of the municipality of " Santa Lucía de Tirajana "on the importance of the forests and the need of care, consisted of the environmental education, and the information about the tasks related to the fires of last summer (function of the firemen, tasks of helicopters ... etc.) To part of the activities and workshops all the pupils assistants to this days contributed across the donation of 1 Euro in the sponsorship of the recovery of the burned zones . During the act of closing of these days there were donated to the Foresta Foundation 949 Euros collected with this initiative, with which 95 trees will stand firm in the next weeks.

Between December 30 and January 6 will appear an exhibition on the eucalyptuses in the capital of Gran Canaria.
It reflects the different visions of the eucalyptus, whichrecreates across jewels and photos.

This initiative is born of the worry of two artists, worried by the environment, reflecting his work across the art and exploiting the unknown part of the eucalyptuses.

The art stretches the hand to the nature because also depends on it for it Claudí will donate a part of the obtained, (in the Exhibition Eucalyptus), to the Foresta Foundation for the reforestation of the Canary Islands, contributing to the recovery of the mounts, affected by the fires of last summer.

On Sunday, the 18th of November, an activity of reforestation realized "Hoya la Navarra", in "San Bartolomé deTirajana", Gran Canaria, in Chira proximities. The principal aim was centre in recovering the zone affected by the fire of last summer. The reforestation was done by plantation of Canary pine and almond-trees.

The activity was the set of three groups of volunteers as those of The Reservation of the Biosphere, Be-Magec and Foresta Foundation with the approximate participation of 180 persons. We want to be grateful for help and labor to all the volunteers and collaborators of the activity. Thank you

Foresta has initiated a program of environmental activities for Canary companies, "Day of companies". It consist in the implication of the companies with the natural environment, across repopulations, with personnel.

The aim of Foresta Foundation is to offer service to companies that want to realize actions that harmonize the managerial activity with the environment reinforcing the interpersonal relations of workers, fomenting the teamwork in an distended environment outdoors.The value added to the activity is that with the margin obtained in these days, Foresta will continue developing his fundacional purpose for what the island will be the great benefited.

Airven S.L. has been the pioneering company in this program organized by Foresta, with the participation of  30 workers. The activity has given place in Osorio of Teror Municipality. Inside the line of Voluntary work that develops every year the FORESTA FOUNDATION, has been prepared a program of actions for the next autumn / winter. The unfortunate events happened the last August, have accelerated the beginning of the above mentioned actions

The Plan of Integral Actionis is a program that contemplates a series of voluntary actions work focused to restoring the affected zones by the last fires happened in Canaries. The fronts of actino will be cleanliness, recovery and reforestation of these zones.

For it we rely on the massive response of almost 700 volunteers and the donations realized in the accounts opened for this purpose.

The Foresta Foundation has begun to work for canalize the massive support of the Volunteers throughdifeferent planned actions

The first one of these actions was celebrated last September 15 in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria with great expectation and response on the side of the volunteers. Later the President of Foresta Foundation, Claudio Alonso demostrates his gratefulnesses through letter.

"La actuación del sábado pasado fue un rotundo éxito. Un total de 200 personas han contribuido in situ a los trabajos de limpieza en el todavía precioso palmeral de Fataga. Se han triturado aproximadamente 400 kg de hojas de palmeras, recogido 3.000 kg de cenizas, construido 10 represas para sujetar el suelo y removido unos 4.000 m2 de tierra para mezclar la ceniza con el suelo.¡Buen trabajo!

Lejos de cualquier color político o de partido, el ayuntamiento de San Bartolomé de Tirajana y especialmente el Cabildo también han brindado todo su apoyo. No obstante, tenemos que reconocer que hasta el año pasado de los 273.000 euros que mueve la fundación sólo un 17 % lo han puesto las administraciones públicas. Queremos pensar que esto va a cambiar ya que ha quedado demostrada la utilidad de nuestro trabajo, que continuará porque esto es solo el comienzo de esta campaña.

Para Foresta la información y la transparencia son vitales, ya que siempre existen personas que por falta de información son indiferentes a las actividades que realizamos y que merecen el apoyo de todos. La garantía de que somos de fiar y que somos eficientes radica en factores básicos que impregnan la fundación: las cuentas están disponibles a ser analizadas por cualquier persona ó institución que colabore con nosotros y serán auditadas por una empresa especialista. Por otro lado su organización se basa en criterios empresariales en los que los objetivos y sus logros se miden en árboles plantados, y que se desarrollen, en lugar de euros ganados.

La responsabilidad social de las empresas y algunas personas hace que cada vez sean más las que contemplan presupuestos para contribuir de forma desinteresada, o para mejorar su imagen pública. Past month of June, The Canary Foundation for Reforestacion (FORESTA) and the Environment service of Territorial Arrangement from City council of Telde (Gran Canaria), developed a campaign of maintenance irrigations of the reforestation carried out this last year 2006/2007.

For the development of this activity it was chosen the primary education centers from the own municipality of Telde. 

Along the celebration of this day the students have learned the characteristics of the zone (climate, ecosystems, flora and fauna) as well as the importance that the trees have for Environment

FORESTA Foundation has initiated a project for reforestation through a campaign that implies to students of secondary education from the island in the forest recovery of Gran Canaria.

This project, developed by D. Jorge Leston (coordinating professor) counts with the collaboration of FORESTA Foundation and the sponsorship of the Education Council of Canary Government and the Environment and Waters Area of the Insular Council of Gran Canaria.

The project has mobilized to 2,000 secondary students of 40 institutes from all the island in 20 exits. The students have planted into private property near to their municipalities so that could make a pursuit and maintenance of their plants.

The phases of this project are the following: 

The plantation phase (from October to February). The students have planted 3,800 trees in 6 property from Gran Canaria. The species used have been Acebuches (wild olive tree), Almacigos, Dragon trees, Palms, Acebiños Laurels, Fayas and Brezos among others.

The maintenance phase (June). An irrigation of the repopulations has been carried out in order to guarantee the survival of the trees during the first summer.

The maintenance phase (II) (September). The aim in this stage is to evaluate the obtained survival and replace the dead trees. In addition takes advantage to do a maintenance second irrigation until the winter arrives. 

With this project it is tried to present the rich Natural Patrimony from the Archipelago fomenting social values between the students like the teamwork, respect to the nature and responsible participation inside the group to which they belong.

FORESTA through the developed mediatic compaign throughout the present year, has wanted to show the present existing problems at level of reforestation in te Canary Island. An example was the press conference offered by the patterns of the Foundation; Claudio Alonso,General Manager of Domingo Alonso, Juerguen Flick, General Manager of Flick Group and Angel Luis Sanchez Bolaños, General Manager of Global. In the press conference was expounded the little attention that is had to him in the last been lending to this sector years as well as the factors that prevent the increase of the forest mass of the Archipelago. 

  The benefits of the Reforestation can be summarized: 

• Increase of the biodiversity and the landscaping beauty.
• It fixes atmospheric CO2 diminishing the level of this gas to the atmosphere.
• It restrains the problems of Desertización and Erosión of the ground.
• They gather the environmental humidity and they filter in the ground recharging the water-bearing one.
• They restrain the erosive effect of the wind.
• They avoid the natural disasters (earth landslides, etc…)
• They increase the human well-being (pure air, activities in the nature, leisure outdoors, tranquillity, etc…)

During the month of July the "Campus of Excellence" has been organized in Fuerteventura.

Between the assistants to this event personalities like director of Unicef, Rima Salah, and the Nobels Edmond Fischer, Bert Sackman, Richard Roberts, and FORESTA Foundation have planted a tree. The planted species have been cypress, laurel, figtree and medlar tree provived by FORESTA and the Insular Councils of Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria in a activity carried out Baku center within the framework of the" Campus of Excellence".

The president of the FORESTA Foundation, Claudio Alonso, also attended the act case his symbolism and the opportunity to share this experience with the personalities of the intellectual stature of the participants.

During the month of June the first international encounter of friends of the trees will be celebrated in Barcelona. The FORESTA Foundation has predicted to participate in these days, which is going away to promote the reforestation as tool of fight against the climatic change.

These days, organized by  More Trees Foundation, will count on the attendance of Al Gore, Spanish´s Environment Minister, and Vandan Shiva ( Nobel prize) among other personalities.

Throughout these days the present situation of the Foresta will be valued, the enviromental and economic function of the trees will be studied, and theories of several experts of recognized world-wide prestige will be exposed.
